Fact Versus Opinion

Hye..Hi..Hai...HAHA...It's Thursday and we having double classes..one is at noon (replacement) and another is at night..During noon class, we having quiz on writing section...OH MY GOD!!!.. I'm not prepared for the quiz..The question is quite tough..its killing me..arghhh

Night class...tonight we learnt how to identify whether the sentence is FACTS or OPINION...

HOW TO RECOGNIZE FACT AND OPINION?!?!?!


To know if the sentence is a fact..ask yourself
"Is this statement proven or can be proved???"

To know if the sentence is opinion...ask people next to you
"Does this tell a thought or feeling???"
"Would the statement be true all time???"

Then we play a game...we are salesperson and we must convince people to buy our product...and my product is OREO...everyone love oreo..that's an opinion..whaha...we must give ten statement about the product and the rest will guest how much fact and opinion...my group included Megat, Sue, Ifa, n Eira...peace

WHAT??? We must act again...Owh NO!!..this is not my expertise...I don't like acting and now I must act in a musical way...but...I will try my best...

My group members is Rahey(narrator), Pony(old fashion wife), Hefa(daughter), Salina(women with career) and I(husband)....Our topic is about "Women dare to go it alone" which means women this day can survive without a man in their life...The musical part...we chooses song "Because of you" by Kelly Clarkson and "Price tag" by Jessi J...

The purpose of this activities is to encourage students to speak English in front everyone..even though we are not a good actor and actress but it enough to make our friends happy...   ^__^

Today we learnt part of speech which is PRONOUNS & PREPOSITION. It is presented by Eira, Leyha, Hanis, and Nina....


What is Pronouns???
Pronouns is a word that replace the noun. For example, her glasses instead of the girl's glasses...

Type of pronouns...
Personal pronouns..refer to people or things..eg..he, I, us,etc.
Subject pronouns..used as subject of sentence..eg..I, you, she, etc.
Object pronouns..used as direct/indirect object..eg..me, her, his, etc
Reflexive pronouns..refer to a noun or pronoun & indicate the same                                                                  
                               person or things.eg..myself, himself, etc
Demonstrative pronouns..used to point out ideas/object to which they                                                                        
                                       refer..eg..this, that, these, etc.
Interrogative pronouns..used in wh-quest..eg..who, whom, which, etc

presentation..non-linear text writing...

5/12/2012.....

We were given an assignment last Tuesday..We must do non-linear text writing in group..and present it..I did post about how to change non-linear text to linear text...you better check it!! The report is about hours spent on activities by different ages groups in Someland in a year...We were given a table and we must  interpret it into a report not less than 150 words and not more than 200 words...

So, we did our best on this..but not everything is perfect..there is still a lot of things missing and lacking..Our report is lacking in assumptions and proposal..But, Miss Zu do praised us that the way we put the fact is very good...(to the rest, please don't be jealous...hehe)


Therefore, we must add what is missing..and print it..and hand it to be examine..and special thanks to my groups members...Din :) ...Taufik ;p and Fadzli :0

Second class in 2012... ;)
Today we learnt how to find main ideas...
But, before we started...Miss Zu cheked our portfolio...OH NO!!!
My portfolio is still lacking many things....and Miss Zu asked me to complete it...She is going to checked it again...

Main idea of the passage is the thought that is present from the beginning to the end...


In finding the main idea, ASK YOURSELF these...
-what idea is common to most of the text??
-what is the idea that relates the parts to the whole??
-what opinion do all the parts support??

In order to find main idea..you must look for the topic sentences of each paragraphs...then understand the supporting details...Topic sentences USUALLY at the first sentence in the paragraph...then you can find the main idea... :)

Non-linear to linear text writing.

Today, we learnt how to change non-linear text to linear text. It is an interpretation of information presented graphically.

Tips how to do interpretation...
1) spend 5 minutes reading the graph/charts...
2)makes sure you understand axes...
3)makes sure you follow lines on graph...
4)focus on the key information...
5)if two graph - compare...
6)think about the time period - tenses...
7)vary your vocabulary...
8)organize information clearly...
9)write neatly....for sure

Non-linear writing's formula
                                      TITLE
first paragraph : Over View + Control Idea
next                 :   give 2 - 3 key features
conclusion       : Prediction + Proposal


Firstly, extract the TITLE from the question and underline it.
Over view - what does the stimuli present??
answer : a bar graph, diagram, pie chart, etc...
Control idea - What is the general trend of all the stimuli combined??
answer : increasing, decreasing, constant, or fluctuating...
For the second, third and fourth paragraph, you need to identify the key  features which are the most outstanding ideas from the stimuli...
NOTES: DO NOT MAKE ANY EXTERNAL ASSUMPTIONS
For the closing, it consist of minimum two sentences...prediction and proposal
Predict what future trend....Propose a recommendation....

Tonight, Rahey, Hefa, Poni and Salina becomes lecturers. They presents about nouns and article..

Example types of noun :
i-Proper noun : names of particular person or thing...e.g McDonald, F&N, Zuan, etc...
ii-Common nouns : names of all things with the same kind...e.g lecturer, town, dog, etc...
iii-Abstract nouns : things that we can only think of and feel...e.g wisdom, slavery, etc...
iv-Collective nouns : names of a number of person or things consider as one...e.g jury, orchestra, etc...

Example of article :
i- 'a' and 'an' : used to refer to any member of a group...

After the presentation, we played a game..We play snake chess game...We were divided into two groups..I forgot what my group's name..HAHAHA.. The rules is one of the group's member must stand in front of the class and throw a giant dice...then he or she will pick a random question about noun and article...if he or she answer the question correctly...the movements according to the number that he or she get....if failed to answer the question..no moves....if the questions is discussed with group member..undo one moves from the number obtain...My group won this game leading far away.....we enjoy the night.. :)

Today task is very special...We learnt about contextual clues...Miss Zu asked us to write a simple poem...The theme is "I think I can...". I'm not a poet...but, I give a try...like what people always said "Practise makes perfect"

I am no one in this world
I have nothing in this world
I am small in this world
But,
There is a lot of things I think I can do
I think I can achieve triumph
If I run to it
I think I can avoid disaster
If I run from it
I think I can be better
If I improve myself
I think I can become a leader
If I have the courage to do so
I think I can be loved
If I love everyone
I think I can lead this world to peace
If I can change the heart of each person
I know that all the things that I think I can do can be done
I know that I can become the most brightest star in the skies
I know I can become the light that will lead peoples out from darkness
If I think I can.....
                                                  


So, that is my poem....I know it is not good enough...but, that is the best I can create on that time...
